Opportunity Kitchen

Opportunity Kitchen is a 12-week vocational food service training program designed to prepare students for successful careers in food service, catering, and hospitality industries. Students work alongside an Executive Chef instructor and Program Manager as they learn the ins and outs of food service while gaining real-world experience at our cafe at the Richland Federal Building. This training program also focuses on life skills development to ensure our students receive comprehensive training and support. This program is free of charge to qualified candidates.

Opportunity Kitchen is open to adults 18 and over facing barriers to employment. Examples of challenges our students may face include homelessness or unstable housing, lack of employable skills, mental health issues, single parenthood, disabilities and many other barriers that make maintaining employment difficult.

Our 12-week classes run on a quarterly basis, with classes beginning in July, November, February, and April. If you are interested in learning more about this program, message us through the form on this page, email the Program Manager or call us at 509-582-4142. The program application can be downloaded HERE and can be dropped off at our main office or emailed to our Program Manager.

Opportunity Kitchen Café and Catering Services

Opportunity Kitchen operates out of the Richland Federal Building, where staff and students run the café located downstairs near the courthouse. Students are able to gain hands-on instruction in a commercial operation and Federal Building employees and visitors get to enjoy a fabulous menu!

The café is currently open to the public for dine-in and take-out Monday through Thursday, 8:15am - 2pm. Please view our menu here.
